Water vending machine set up

Bhatkal: ‘Janajal’ water vending machine installed by Konkan Railways was inaugurated at Bhatkal railway station recently.

The Janajal provides water at an affordable cost and people can get water by either feeding coins to the machine or by scanning the QR Code through various apps.

While 300 ml water can be got by paying Rs 1, 500 ml can be got at Rs 3, one litre at Rs 5, two litres at Rs 8 and five litres at Rs 20. People can fill the water in bottles or cans carried by them. Those drinking water in glass have to pay Rs 2.

“UV and UF technology have been installed in the machine for purifying water. The machine will work 24X7 and people, especially passengers, can avail the services at any time of the day,” said Konkan Railway Mangaluru Division Public Relations Officer Sudha Krishnamurthy. She informed that such 12 such water vending machines are being installed in various railway stations in Karnataka coming under Konkan Railway.
