‘Water from Kadra can be released at any moment’

Karwar: As the catchment areas of the Kadra have been receiving torrential rain, the water level in the reservoir may reach the maximum level at any moment and water may be released to the river, alerted Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd.

Corporation Kadra Dam Executive Engineer R Rajshekhar released a press release in this regard and said that the inflow of Kadra reservoir, which comes under the second phase of Kali river project, is 31,753 cusec. The maximum water-level of the reservoir is 34.5 metre and presently, the water has reached 33.3 metre. As the catchment has been receiving continuous heavy rain, the reservoir might reach the brim at any moment and water may be released.

So, he warned the people on the river bank to move to safer places with their property and cattle as a precuationary measure. Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the river for fishing and people have been asked to be ready to move to a safer place.
