Bhatkal: A woman walking home from a shop in Murdeshwar managed to foil a kidnapping attempt Tuesday night.

The attempted abduction happened around 9.00pm in National colony.

According to her brother Zareef Hajib, she was returning home after buying vegetables from a nearby shop. Suddenly, two people, riding on a bike, saw the lone woman and held her hand firmly and started pulling her towards them. The woman managed to escape after she screamed for help and free herself from the kidnappers who fled from the scene.

Zareef informed that the bike initially passed closer to his sister and then made a U-turn after realizing that she was alone on the road as there was complete darkness. They came closer to her and held her hands and dragged her to a distance of up to ten feet. However, she managed to escape from the kidnappers after she screamed for help and pulled herself away from them with force.

He also said that the entire scene of the incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed at a nearby house. The rider was wearing half-pant, while the pillion was in full pants, he noted.

Incident has been brought to the notice of Murdeshwar police, he added.
