Biscuits, rusks worth lakhs gutted

Kundapur: A fire in a goods truck destroyed a consignment of biscuits and rusks, worth lakhs, near Mullugudde in Kandlur police station limits, Kundapur, on Thursday.

Three boxes of biscuits were burnt in the fire. The rest where destroyed when fire and emergency service staff, who arrived from Kundapur, doused the fire with water in order to contain the loss.

The truck was heading from Kundapur to Shivamogga. The electrical short circuit in the vehicle’s cabin led to the fire, sources said.

The driver noticed smoke in the truck on reaching Mullugudde near Kandlur. He stopped the vehicle and alerted fire brigade.
