Start preparations for MCC election, DK admin told

Mangaluru: Close on the orders of High Court, the state election commission has ordered Dakshina Kannada district administration to begin preparations to conduct a smooth election in 60 wards coming under Mangaluru City Corporation.

According to sources, the commission has directed the deputy commissioner to initiate work on preparing electoral rolls, list of polling booths, appointment of polling staff, stocking sufficient electronic voting machines and details of 
expenditure.

“The deputy commissioners were also asked to prepare a list of officers of the level of sub divisional officer with jurisdiction over a group of five wards and submit them to the election commission,” sources told DH.

The High Court had settled the dispute over the reservation criteria announced by the coalition government and had directed election commission to complete the election process by October end.
