SSLC student tests positive for virus in Udupi

Udupi: In a concerning development, an SSLC student in Udupi district tested COVID positive on Sunday. Udupi district recorded 40 new cases on Sunday.

"An SSLC student tested positive. She had written the examination yesterday. We collected her swab yesterday after the examination after two of her relatives tested COVID positive," Udupi DC G Jagadeesh told reporters.

"Today's report shows her positive. The girl will not attend tomorrow's examination. She will be allowed to write the remaining four papers in the supplementary examination," the DC said.

With the student testing positive, the district administration has taken all precautionary measures in the examination center where the girl had written the two examinations.

"The examination center has been sanitized. We have also asked not to use that particular room for examination. Other room in the center for examination would be used," Jagadeesha added

Udupi district has the highest number of positives in the states. Of the total 1179 positives, 1053 have recovered. The DC informed that 126 are at present under treatment in various hospitals.
