Spate of Robberies continue in Bhatkal: Now robbers get away with valuables from a locker

Bhatkal: There has been a spike in incidents of robberies in Bhatkal recently. Robbers have managed to break into houses by  damaging the doors or locks or even removing the exaust fan in the bath rooms and getting away with valuables.

The latest incident was reported from Bhatkal Haneef Abad area behind Abubakar Masjid which falls in Bhatkal Rural police station limits in which a gang of robbers broke into a house and decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 4 lakh between Friday evening and Saturday evening.

The house is owned by Syed Mohsin Barmawar, all the family members had gone to Mangalore on emergency when a family member's health had deteriorated.

Talking on phone one of the family member City Medical Iqbal told that his mother was ill yesterday evening so he and his sister took her to Mangalore for treatment immediately. Today evening few neighbours noticed  the damaged entrance door. According to Iqbal, there is no doubt that only local thieves are involved in this robbery, who were well aware that the family members were not present in the house.

The robbers got away with a locker containing 2 gold necklace, earing, ring and cash Rs. 4000. The locker also contained several documents along with a passport.

CPI KL Ganesh, PSI Manjappa amongst other police officials rushed to the spot and collected the details.
