Series of house thefts at Chigalli in Mundgod taluk

Mundgod,: A series of thefts took place at Chigalli village in Mundgod taluk on Sunday early morning. While the thieves managed to walk away with valuables from two houses, their attempts to break into three more houses failed.

The thieves gained entry into two houses from the back door while the families were asleep. They made away with 30 gram gold, 20 tola silver and Rs 30,000 cash from two houses belonging to Parasappa Talwar and Vithal Mathroji.

In another house, they had to flee as the oxen tied in the house did not allow them. In the fourth house, they tried to remove the bricks of the wall but the family woke up to the sound and so, the thieves fled.

Fingerprint experts and dog squad were pressed into service to trace the thieves.
