Two women killed after speeding car hits bus

Mangaluru: Two elderly women were killed after a speeding car hit a KSRTC bus coming from the opposite direction in Bantwal on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Rukmini(63) and Sarojini T Shetty(65), both residents of Jeppu.

Bantwal SI Manjunath speaking to reporters: “The mishap occurred on Friday afternoon near Nehru Nagar in Narikombu village, when the family members were heading towards Panemangaluru in car to attend a house warming ceremony. The driver, moving the car on the wrong side, ended up hitting a Mangalurubound bus due to high speed and negligence. One woman died on the spot while another occupant passed away at the hospit a l , s u c c u m b i n g t o injuries.

In the mishap, one of the occupants of the car, a woman named Anusha(40) and the driver Umesh(45), a resident of Shaktinagar sustained serious injuries. They have been shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. A case has been registered.
