Mangaluru:  Orange alert was sounded in Karnataka coastal belt as a low-pressure area has formed over the south-east and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area which may lead to heavy rain in the region.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over the coastal region on Tuesday.

The depression is likely to intensify into a deep depression—the third and fourth stages of any cyclone formation. Hence, the coastal region may receive rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm.
