One arrested over Illegal sand extraction in Byndoor

Udupi: Byndoor police arrested a man and seized sand worth of Rs 24,000 that was being extracted illegally from River Sauparnika during a raid at Badakere in Byndoor in the district.

The arrested is identified as Dinesh Shetty.

Sub Inspector of Byndoor police station Thimmesh B N was tipped off by locals that miscreants were extracting sand without any permit in Badakere.

The police on rushing to the spot arrested Dinesh engaged in illegal sand mining activity. However, some of them fled the spot. They are driver Ravi, Dinesh Ganiga, Nithyanand Shet, Sridhar, Praveen Shetty and Gopala.
