PFI ban: Houses of PFI leaders raided in Bhatkal; papers and documents examined

Bhatkal: After banning the Popular Front of India (PFI) by the Central Government, the Bhatkal taluk administration raided the houses of the Bhatkal PFI leaders on Wednesday evening in the wake of reports received that this organization is conducting illegal activities in two places of Bhatkal.

Police arrived with a search warrant at the rented house of PFI District President Abdul Kareem in Moosa Nagar, and examined the papers and other documents including books and folders found inside the house. Abdul Kareem was not present at home on this occasion. Similarly, the house of a PFI leader named Salman in Hanifabad was also raided and papers, documents and books found inside the house were examined. Salman was also not present at his house.

Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Mamatadevi, Tahsildar Dr Sumanth, DySP Beliyappa, Town Circle Police Inspector Diwakar, Rural Circle Police Inspector Mahabaleshwar Nayak, PSI Bharat and other police officials were present. 

Two teams consisting of all the officers reached the houses of both at around 6:30 PM on Wednesday and investigated. It has been found that this action was taken on the instructions of Uttara Kannada SP Dr Suman Pannekar.

According to the sources, the house of PFI leader Abdul Ghaffar has also been raided in Sirsi of Uttara Kannada district and the necessary information has been obtained and the papers and documents found at the house were examined.
