Bhatkal: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has stated that the state will not observe complete lockdown on Sunday, May 31, like last Sunday. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Saturday, Yeddyurappa clarified that Sunday's lockdown has been lifted up from the state and it will also follow the norms as per the other weekdays.

Following the statement of CM, Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Bharat, in a press release, said that the shops in Bhatkal will be open on Sunday from 8 AM to 2 PM similar to that of today. As always, the city will completely go under lockdown after 2 PM. In this regard, AC requested the public to maintain social distancing norms and wear face mask whenever they leave from their homes. "Bhatkal's Madina Colony, Usmania Colony, Goodluck Road, Kogi Nagar and Sultan Street, which are considered as cantainment zones, would not be exempted from the lockdown", AC said.

It may be recalled, earlier the state government had instructed the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts to provide relief to the people under normal circumstances, which will not be given on Sundays. The directions were also issued to lockdown the entire state on Sundays, as most of the shops and companies remain closed in this day and there are chances of overcrowding. But today, however, Yeddyurappa withdrew its decree allowing the public to buy the essentials from the stores as other weekdays on Sunday.
