Mangaluru: Mangaluru Commissioner of Police N Shashi Kumar lauded the honesty of an autorickshaw driver, Mohammed Haneef, and felicitated him on the premises of his official quarters on Friday.

Haneef found a bag lying in front of Big Bazaar mall in Attavar and promptly deposited the bag in commissioner's office. The bag with cash more than Rs 10,000, coins, credit cards and identity cards among others was reunited with its owner Dushyanth, who was a student.

Kumar said amidst many complaints against autorickshaw drivers, there are also honest autorickshaw drivers like Mohammed Haneef. Commissioner, felicitating Hanif, urged autorickshaw drivers to have good relations with the police.

Haneef told media persons that he has been eking out a living as an autorickshaw driver for past 15 years. After discovering the bag, his only thought was to return it to its rightful owner.
