Lightning strikes two children in Mangalore; one die, another serious

Mangalore: Two children, who were playing in the open field were struck by lightning, one of whom succumbed to his injuries, while the other child was seriously injured and in has been admitted to the hospital in the critical condition. The incident happened at Haleangadi village near Mangalore.

According to sources, the tragedy happened in the evening hours at Indira Nagar in Haleangadi on Tuesday when Naihan (5yrs) s/o  Mansoor and Marutish (6yrs) s/o Durgappa were playing outside with other children. Suddenly there was a thunderclap and the duo fell unconscious together. The children who were playing with them ran to their homes and reported the incident of lightning strike.

On studying the incident, the locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured children to a nearby private hospital. But as the condition of the children was very serious, they were taken to a private hospital in Mangalore for better treatment. Unfortunately, one of them, Naihan, breathed his last on Wednesday.
