Mangaluru: The members of the Campus Front of India (CFI) staged a protest against the National Education Policy during its launch by the state higher education minister C N Ashwath Narayan at Mangalore University on Monday.

Though the police had tightened the security by blocking all main roads leading to the university campus, a group of CFI members managed to enter the campus and shouted slogans against the NEP.

The protesters demanded the government and Mangalore University not to implement the NEP.

Later, the police took all the protesters into police custody. They were taken to Konaje police station.

An inaugural ceremony was held at the Mangala Auditorium of the university.

At the inaugural ceremony, the minister said, "Opposition parties and organisations have been trying to misguide people. Through the NEP, the government is bringing reformation in education that is essential for the 21st century."
