Kumta: Janata Dal Secular's JD(S) most likely aspirant for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Uttara Kannada district, Anand Asnotikar has lashed at the sitting BJP MP and a Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde terming him as a 'Cancer' for Uttara Kannada district. He was addressing the party members' meet organized here at Kumta on Sunday.

Continuing further, he said, Anantkumar Hegde is sucking people's blood by spreading poison by his hate filled speeches. 'Hindutva, Modi' are the only weapons with him, while we want to fight elections to bring developmental activities in the district.

"Moreover, Anantkumar had also milked the death of Honnavar youth Paresh Mesta in furthering his political aspirations. He is known for making politics by utilising backward class youth. Today, those innocent youths are struggling and fighting helplessly for the cases being clamped against them", he added.

It may be noted that Anand Asnotikar is a former state Minister and had also emerged as a runner-up in the Karnataka Assembly elections held in May 2018.

Karnataka, with 28 Lok Sabha seats will go for polls in two phases. While 14 seats will go to the polls in phase 2 on April 18, the rest 14 will vote in phase 3 on April 23.
