Mangaluru: Govt announces Rs 6 lakh compensation to each of the fishermen family died

Mangaluru: The Karnataka government has released a compensation of Rs 6 lakh each to the families of the fishermen who lost their lives in the Shree Raksha fishing boat tragedy.

Minister for Fisheries Kota Srinivasa Poojary, who is also Dakshina Kannada District Incharge Minister, in a tweet said the amount has been released as per the direction of the Chief Minister and that he would strive to release more compensation.

The Minister on Wednesday visited the mortuary of the Wenlock Hospital where the bodies of the four fishermen recovered are kept.
He said investigation is underway to know the exact cause of the mishap.

Meanwhile The bodies of two more fishermen who went missing after the Shree Raksha Purse-seine boat capsized off the Ullal coast, have been traced on Wednesday .

The bodies of two others were traced on Tuesday night. With this so far the bodies of four out of the six missing fishermen have been traced.
The fishing boat with about 25 fishermen was on its return journey when it capsized nearly 15 nautical miles off the Ullal coast reportedly after hitting a boulder.
