Colourful event marks 64th Kannada Rajyotsava in Dubai

Dubai: Observing the 64th Kannada Rajyotsava celebration, a colourful event was marked here at Dubai recently, under the aegis of Kannadigaru Dubai. Thousands of Kannadigas residing in the United Arab Emirates participated in this event to make it a grand success.

Padmashri awardee, Chief of Infosys Foundation, Dr Sudha Murti was present as the chief guest in the event. During her address to the audience, she praised the efforts of 'Kannadigaru Dubai' for hosting an event in the grand pattern, giving a stage for Kannadigas in United Arab Emirates.

The program, held in the premises of Heartland International School in Nadd Al Sheba, Dubai, began with the lighting of lamps by guests and Kannadigaru Dubai leaders. The event was presided by the President of Kannadigaru Dubai, Mr Mallikarjuna Gauda.

On the occasion, Kargil hero Captain Naveen Nagappa was honoured and felicitated with 'Brave Soldier' award. Also, Muhammad Mustafa and his wife were felicitated for their all time support towards Kannadigaru Dubai for hosting any of the events. 

The school students and women presented different types of cultural activities, whereas a group of dancers from Bengaluru staged traditional dances.

The program was compered by R G Siri, while Mallikarjuna Gauda delivered the welcome note and also gave a vote of thanks.
