Mumbai: While medical researchers are trying hard to find a cure for the COVID-19 pandemic, Plasma Therapy is promising to be the ray of hope for corona patients.

This treatment is also known as Convalescent Plasma Therapy or Passive Immunisation. The plasma of those patients who had contracted Corona and have now been cured is used to treat active Corona patients. Antibodies which fight against the Corona virus develop in the plasma of such cured patients. Many countries all over the world are using this therapy to treat their patients. Patients affected by the Spanish Flu, the Ebola virus and SARS have previously been treated using this therapy.

With this in view, the Maharashtra chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is launching a three-day statewide campaign named ‘Donate Plasma Defeat Corona’ from the 4th of August to the 6th of August 2020. Those people who have been cured of COVID-19 would voluntarily donate their plasma to make this campaign a grand success.

In our country, such an antibody-rich plasma is required to treat COVID-19 patients. Although lakhs of our countrymen have been infected by this disease, the good part is that many thousands have also been cured" Said Mazhar Farooq Secretary Social Service Dept. Of Jamaat e Islami Hind Maharashtra

Any step taken to selflessly serve COVID-19 patients promises to make us worthy of divine rewards. He further elborated that " Islam places great importance on helping the needy, God expects those privileged amongst us to help and aid the deprived sections of our society. These privileged ones include those whom God has cured of this disease.".

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has said that “The entire creation is God's family, and God loves those who are most beneficial to His family”. He has also said that, “Be merciful to the ones on earth, and the One in the heavens would show you mercy”. Serving the needy to please God is the Muslim community's primary responsibility.
