Mangaluru: The first stakeholders’ meet of the newly-formed Indian Marine Ingredients Association (IMIA) of the fish meal producers of India was held here on Monday. Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Inland Water Transport S Angara launched the association.

Angara asked the investors to invest more in fish exports and allied industries stating that the government will extend all necessary assistance for the same. He said the government is working on producing fuel from fish.

A release from Indian Marine Ingredients Association said the purpose of this association is to work towards improving the sustainability of marine resources and to ultimately get the coasts certified by the International Fisheries Improvers programme.
