Three storeyed building gutted in Honnavar; loss of 60 lakh rupees estimated

Honnavar: A three-storeyed residential building gutted to fire and turned into ashes here at Idagunji in Honnavar.

The building was accompanied by four families when the incident took place. Fortunately, the occupants woke up suddenly as the incident broke out and escaped unhurt.

The roof of this three-storeyed old house was made of grass, with walls made of three planks. The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be identified, however, it is suspected that it took place due to a short circuit. A total of 60 lakh rupees of loss was incurred, which included gold jewellery, clothes, and household items. 

As the information spread in the region, Bhatkal MLA Sunil Naik, ex MLA Mankal Vaidya and many others rushed to the spot.
