Honnavar : Preparations have been made for commencing the offline classes from the first standard. However, classes would not be started without taking the suggestions of the Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee, said Primary & Secondary Education Minister B C Nagesh.

Speaking to media persons at Bangaramakki in Honnavar taluk on Saturday, he said, classes from the first standard would be started only after getting opinions from the experts. On the other hand, efforts are being made to start teaching in schools under the new National Education Policy (NEP) from the next academic year, he added.

Reacting on Congress party’s opposition for implementation of NEP, the minister said, KPCC President D K Shivakumar and Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah are criticising the new education policy which has been prepared by experts such as Kasturirangan who was the advisor for former prime minister Manmohan Singh for ten years, he stated.

He said: “Congress has developed a habit of criticising us (BJP leaders) for whatever we do. They raise caste and religion in every issue,” he criticised.

The minister took part in the decennial programme of Sri Maruti Residential School at Bangaramakki and received felicitation at the programme.
