Karwar: Follow food safety guidelines, hotels told
Karwar: A team of Food Safety officials paid a surprise visit to chicken centres, hotels and bakeries in Karwar recently and gave warning to shops violating norms.
During the inspection, they found that most of the chicken centres did not have glass enclosures and hence, they were directed to mandatory fix glass in front of their shop.
Bakeries were asked not to provide bakery items on printed papers (of newspaper and magazine).
They were asked to compulsorily print manufacture and expiry dates on the products.
They were also warned of action if they were found selling products which had already expired.
Hotels were asked to maintain cleanliness and not to use harmful chemicals to enhance the taste of the food.
During the inspection, all hotels, bakeries and chicken centres were made aware of food safety guidelines.
District Food Safety Quality Check officer Vinod Bhute, Food Checking Officer Arunkashi Bhat and CMC Health Inspector Yaqoob Sheikh were part of the official team.
