Fisherman dies in Bhatkal after falling into Arabian sea

Bhatkal: A fisherman lost his life after he went drowning into the Arabian sea when he slipped while crossing from one boat to another here at Bunder in Mavinakurve gram panchayat limits in Bhatkal on Thursday, 7th March.

The deceased is identified as Uday Narayan Naik (45), a resident of Kaikini in the taluk. He was employed as a fisherman in Sachidananda fishing boat owned by Anand Manja Kharvi, for two years.

It is said that on Thursday afternoon, while in work, Uday slipped crossing from one boat to another, after which the body went missing. Many youths from surrounding areas like Maqdoom colony and Dongarpalli rushed to the spot and began to search the body by jumping into the sea. Finally, the body was fished out after the struggle of two hours. 

The body was later shifted to Bhatkal government hospital for post mortem.

A case has been registered in the rural police station and further investigation are on.
