Parents, students asked not to form crowd before exam centres

Karwar: Deputy Commissioner K Harishkumar directed the officers of the Education Department to lay stress on maintaining cleanliness at SSLC exam centres and make arrangements to provide boiled water to students.

Presiding over a meeting convened to review the preparations made to hold SSLC exams, at his office in Karwar on Thursday, he said that parents who drop and pick their children must not gather outside the exam hall. Crowd must be avoided before the exam centre. Already, several precautionary measures had been issued to prevent Covid-19 from spreading and all the measures must be followed by students, parents and teachers during the exams.

The DC also directed to install CCTV cameras in all 73 exam centres in Uttara Kannada, impose prohibitory orders in a 200-metre radius around SSLC examination centres, appoint police outside the exam centres for security purpose and conduct the exams smoothly without giving way for any confusions and
chaos.

“Static squad, question paper superintendents and route officers must be deputed. Carrying electronic items of any form to the exam centre has been prohibited. So, a mobile phone monitoring officer must also be deputed to take care of it,” the DC said.

He also asked the officers to make all last-minute efforts to ensure that the performance of SSLC students of the district improves this year.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Roshan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nagaraj Singrer, District Health & Family Welfare Officer G N Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director of Sirsi Education District Diwakar Shetty and Hairsh Goankar of Karwar Education District and others attended the meeting.

Thermal checking

Meanwhile, as a large number of teachers and government department officials had gathered for the meeting, the health department staff conducted checking using thermal thermometer.
