Karwar: Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwathnarayan assured Rs 50 lakh funds for the Vokkaliga Community Hall constructed at Kelaginuru in Honnavar taluk. Besides, he also promised Rs 10 lakh personal donation for the hall.

Speaking after inaugurating the community hall constructed at a cost of Rs four crore at Kelaginuru, Ashwathnarayan hailed Balgangadharnath Swamiji for organising and guiding the Vokkaliga community and becoming its strength. He also said that the government had various plans to help the development of the community and he himself would extend all co-operation for that.

Adichunchanagiri Mutt Peetashipathi Nirmalanandnath Swamiji said that it was possible to construct such a huge community hall as the community stood united and extended support. All development works were possible only when people stand keeping aside all superstitions.

Explaining why funds must be provided to mutts, he said that a seer of a mutt represents a community and all the community members work with the mutt and the seer. If funds were provided to the mutt, all the community members stand together and work for development. This would ultimately help the society and the nation.

Swami Prasannanath of Adichunchanagiri Mutt Mandya Shakha Mutt in the Kali Yuga, the power of unity (organisation) was ultimate and any tough task could be achieved through unity.

Teaching moral values

The exam report cards were just printed papers and do not reflect the character and personality of a person. It was high time that our education system focussed on morals and ethics.

Karnataka Rakshana Vedike President T A Narayangowda said that the government must recognise the Halakki Vokkaligara community which is backward and all the community members must pressurise the government to do so.

On the occasion, ‘Honna Hariwan’, a souvenir was released. Lawyer K T Gowda also spoke.
