Covid-19: Dubai returnee tested negative, wife tested positive in Bhatkal; tally climbs to 9 with 2 recoveries

Bhatkal: Wife of a Dubai returnee husband was tested positive for novel Coronavirus, while husband was tested negative, tallying the number of infected people in Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada to 9 including 2 recoveries.

The woman, aged around 25 years old, is a five month old pregnant, and her husband had recently returned from Dubai, who was tested negative for Coronavirus. It is informed that her husband had arrived to Mumbai International Airport from Dubai on 17th March, stayed there for four days, before entering Bhatkal. He came to Bhatkal through train, and reached his house in a friend's two-wheeler. As he was a foreign returnee, the health officers had sealed him with home quarantine stamp on his hand. On 31st March, as he witnessed health issues in his wife, he took her to hospital. Though he had a quarantine seal on his hand, he and his wife were put in isolation ward in Bhatkal, and their throat swabs were sent for testing.

As the reports were received, it was confirmed that the wife is infected with Covid-19 as she was tested positive, while husband was tested negative. To reconfirm, husband's swabs are sent for retesting. Wife, who is pregnant, is kept at Bhatkal government hospital.

The husband is kept in quarantine in hospital until his reports sent for retesting is not received.
