Cops seize illicit liquor worth 1.5 lakh in Karwar; 1 arrested

Karwar: The excise officials after a chase of more than 15km, arrested one person for carrying illicit liquor near Goa border in Karwar today on Wednesday morning.

The arrested accused has been identified as Yogish, son of Nagesh Majali.

Sources informed that the accused was caught carrying 432 litres of Goa fenny and around 115 litres of Goa beer in his four-wheeler. The estimated value of the seized liquor is 1.5 lakhs. Officials also recovered car from his possession on which it was being trafficked. The total value of seized property is valued as five lakh rupees.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
