‘Congress thinks Rahul Gandhi’s joblessness is nation’s unemployment’

Mangaluru: Taking a dig at the opposition party, Tejasvi Surya, BJP Yuva Morcha national president and MP, said Congress equates the political joblessness of Rahul Gandhi with unemployment rates in the country.

While delivering a talk at ‘Budget Analysis 2023’ organised by Dakshina Kannada BJP Economic Cell on Sunday, Surya said: “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, said the nation has been facing acute unemployment issues and youth are unable to get jobs. I think Rahul confuses his political joblessness with the nation’s unemployment. He is unaware of facts and figures.”

Surya added: “New registrations in Employment Provident Fund (EPF) is the best yardstick to measure abundant employment opportunities in India. In the past eight years, the number of EPF memberships has seen a drastic increase from 9.5 crore to 27 crore. The Narendra Modi government has created ample opportunities for youth who have talent.”

On the Budget 2023, he said it was the foundation for overall development of the nation for the next 25 years. “The difference between BJP’s economics and Congress’ economics is that while Congress was presenting populist budgets which caused huge losses to the nation, Modi has been laying the foundation for a strong India through the budgets.”

The UPA government in 2008 had waived off the farmers loans providing temporary relief to farmers. However, the BJP did not go for populist budget, but instead allocated Rs 10 lakh crore for infrastructure development, which will have a multiplier effect in the country, he said.

“Budget 2023-24 is a growth driver and a blueprint for development over the next 25 years. It will enable India to be the most competitive and fastest growing economy in the world. Before Narendra Modi came to power, the Indian economy was considered one of the fragile five economies of the world. After Modi became the Prime Minister, India has become the fifth largest economy of the world,” Surya said.

A country will flourish economically only if there is political stability, he said. “The secret behind India’s success is the strong political stability under PM Modi,” he said.
