Mangaluru: With the High court declaring that the imposing of prohibitory orders in Mangaluru was illegal, both Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel should tender an apology to people, demanded former opposition leader V S Ugrappa on Friday.

“If they understood the Constitution, Yediyurappa and Kateel would have apologised to the people of the state,” he said and asked the chief minister to also sack Anand Singh who has 15 cases registered against him.

‘Judicial enquiry’

Ugrappa, responding to a query, demanded a judicial enquiry into the accident case in Ballari reportedly caused by the son of a minister.

Ugrappa told reporters at Congress Bhavan that BJP was diverting the minds of the people through emotional issues such as abrogation of Article 370, triple talaq, Ram Mandir, and Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) among others.

Reservation to SC/ST

He urged Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah to declare their stand on the Supreme Court’s verdict on the reservation to members of SC/ST communities.

“The prime minister should convene a meeting of all party presidents, floor leaders and file a review petition before the Constitutional bench,” he stressed.

MLA U T Khader, Congress leaders Sadashiva Ullal, Mohammed Monu, Santhosh Shetty, T K Sudhir among others were present.
