CID files chargesheet against 66 people over 'CAA violence' on Dec 19 in Mangaluru

Mangaluru:  The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has submitted a 2000-page chargesheet against 66 persons to Judicial Magistrate of First Class Court alleging their involvement in December 19, 2019 violence.

Police said on Sunday that the chargesheet pertain to two separate incidents on basis of complaints filed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Arungshu Giri at Mangaluru North Police Station and Shantharam, then inspector of Mangaluru East Police Station.

In one chargesheet, twenty people have been named for unlawful assembly, rioting, use of lethal weapons, criminal conspiracy, attempt to murder and violation a government officer’s order. In the second chargesheet, forty six people have been named and are accused of unlawful assembly, use of weapons and attacking the police.
