Coronavirus scare: Buses cancelled due to lack of passengers in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: Coronavirus scare has hit KSRTC busses from Bhatkal have been temporarily cancelled and buses have also remained off the road due to lack of passengers.

With many people skipping crowded places and avoiding long-journey,  schools and colleges are also closed,  With less passengers, the KSRTC Bhatkal depot has cancelled operations of some buses.

Rush in bus stands has also come down with Covid-19 outbreak said Bhatkal Depot Manager Survesh.

They include premier buses moving from Bhatkal to Bengaluru, Gulbarga, Hyderabad, Mysuru, and other places, along with express buses, and many local buses are also call off.

KSRTC officials have taken steps to clean buses, depots, and bus stands, using sanitisers, phenol, and bleaching powder.

“Sanitisers are being used to clean seats, handles, and other places in the bus where people usually touch with their hands. In addition, cleaning activities are taken up in depots and bus stands,” he added.

Health & Family Welfare Department teams would identify those with symptoms like coughing, and would refer them to the help-desk.

Toilets at the bus stands are also cleaned, and KSRTC staff are asked to use masks, he noted. Audio clip aimed at creating awareness about Covid-19 is also being played at bus stands, he added.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the state have reached 15, according to the Karnataka Health Minister.

A total of 169 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Thursday
