Blinkers to check speeding in ghat: Udupi SP Vishnuvardhan

Udupi: After a post-mortem, the bodies of six among the nine passengers killed in the accident at Abbas-Kattingeri were handed over to their relatives on Sunday.

Five among the injured who were admitted to KMC, Manipal hospital are reportedly out of danger. As many as 24 passengers who sustained injuries are being treated in government and private hospitals in Karkala.

Udupi Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishnuvardhan told DH that all the injured passengers were recovering and will be discharged shortly. He said he will discuss the issue with road engineering experts to introduce certain safety measures on the stretch. He will recommend (to the government) to instal signs and blinkers to check the speed of vehicles in the ghat section.
