BJP is Brokers' Janata Party, says KPCC working president
Mangaluru: KPCC working president Saleem Ahmed said that the current BJP-led state government is Business Janata Party, Brokers’ Janata Party and Bhrastachara Janata Party, thriving on 40% commission.
He was speaking during the inauguration of the ‘Karavali Praja Dhwani Yatre’ at Nelyadi in Puttur, organised by the Kadaba Block Congress here on Sunday.
“Where are the ‘Rama Rajya’ and the two crore jobs they promised? The recent Union Budget is the farewell of BJP, he said and alleged that the double engine government has failed and has become ‘Dubba Engine Government’.”
Former PMs Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have sacrificed their lives for the Nation. What is the sacrifice that the BJP leaders have made to the Nation, he asked.
Former minister and senior Congress leader R V Deshapande said that the Congress will regain the powerful presence in coastal and Malnad regions. “Efforts will be made to strengthen the party from the village-level. The region has contributed great leaders like B Janardhana Poojary, T A Pai, Oscar Fernandes and Srinivasa Mallya,” he said.
He accused the Modi-led Central Government as anti-poor, anti-farmer and anti-backward classes. “Even the current BJP-led state government has discontinued all good schemes such as ‘Anna Bhagya’, ‘Indira Canteen’ implemented by the Siddaramaiah government. The Congress does not seek votes on the grounds of religion and community.”
Deshpande called upon the leaders to face the upcoming elections by telling people about the contributions of the Congress during the past tenures. “This is a time of test. Every party leader should abide by the party’s decisions and work with unity, sidelining the differences,” he added.
Leader Madhu Bangarappa recalled that the land rights given to poor farmers, was the contribution of the Congress during the chief ministerial tenure of Devaraj Urs. People should not forget it.
Mangalore MLA U T Khader predicted that the victory of Congress will start from Sullia during the Assembly election. He alleged that BJP has been swindling money in the name of ‘Gau’. The mats worth Rs 7,000 provided to the cattle are of poor quality. There are no drivers and staff for the Pashu Sanjeevini ambulances, which are gathering rust.
