Mangaluru: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council B K Hariprasad has urged the Governor to dismiss the state government led by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and recommend for President’s rule.

The BJP-led government has no moral right to be in power. It has utterly failed in maintaining law and order in the state, he told reporters.

By handing over Praveen Nettaru’s murder case to the NIA, the government has proved that it is incapable of handling the situation, he added.

“The chief minister should resign immediately,” he said.

Hariprasad had visited the houses of Praveen Nettaru, Masood in Bellare and Mahammed Fazil of Mangalapete in Surathkal.

He urged the government to arrest all culprits within 15 days.

Criticizing the CM for failing to visit the houses of Masood and Fazil during his visit to Dakshina Kannada, he said that Bommai has proved that he seems to be the CM for BJP workers and not of Karnataka.

He accused the BJP of engaging in politics over dead bodies.

“Even after 5 years, there is no progress in the investigation into the murder of Paresh Mesta in Honnavar taluk by the CBI,” he said.

When a Congress delegation visited the house of Praveen Nettaru, some raised slogans.

To a query, Hariprasad said that family members of Praveen are grieving and they have shared their grievances with us.

“It was a group of three to four workers hired by BJP who raised slogans against us outside. None of the relatives of Praveen were part of it,” he added.

The delegation comprised former minister B Ramanath Rai, former MLA Shakunthala Shetty and Billava community leaders Naveenchandra Suvarna and Rajshekhar Kotain along with B K Hariprasad.
