Bhatkal's Madina colony sealed following surge in Corona positive cases

Bhatkal: Soon after 12 new Corona positive cases came to light in Bhatkal, Police have sealed off the entire Madina Colony coming under Bhatkal containment zone. It has been reported that not only pass holding vehicles but also an ambulance has been reported to be stopped on this route. Police forces have been deployed at various places on the internal routes including at Tengingundi cross and the entire area has been cordoned off.

Sources said that after the latest cases came to light, Madina colony, Jamiabad road Kadi Machine cross, Nawayath colony cross, Jali road cross, KHB Road, Kogti road and Usmania cross have been completely closed. Currently, the streets of Bhatkal are deserted. It is learned that Uttara Kannada SP Shiv Prakash Devraj has also reached Bhatkal from Karwar to monitor the situation. 

Who all among new Corona cases: Sources said that the 12 people who reported Corona positive on Friday included six people from Madina Colony, including a neighbouring woman, three belonging to Kogti, one from Nawayath colony National Highway, and another one belongs to KHB Colony. 2 pregnant women are also among the 12 people who were reported positive for Coronavirus.

It is reported that Patient No. 739 had taken her five-month-old daughter (P747) to First Neuro Hospital in Mangaluru on April 20 to get a medical checkup for her who was feeling ill. She was accompanied by her husband (P743), all three have been reported to be COVID-19 positive. Similarly, grandfather of P739 (aged 83 years, P746), grandmother (aged 75 years, P744), P743's 60-year-old father, 23-year-old neighbour, 18-year-old and 22-year-old two friends, 39-year-old aunt and his 11-year-old daughter, along with a three-year-old girl also reported positive.

It was also reported that when the 18-year-old girl's report came out to be Corona positive on May 5, samples of 47 people who came in contact with her were immediately sent for testing. Also, two people at government hospital and three people at Anjuman hostel were quarantined and they were not allowed to go home. Everyone else were strictly instructed to stay in the quarantine in their homes.
