Bhatkal: Indian Medical Association (IMA) Bhatkal has appealed to the people of Bhatkal not to panic due to corona virus pandemic. This pandemic by no means is a situation which has not been faced earlier. SARS 1, Swine flu, Nipah etc were on the same scale and considerable experience tells us that awareness, precautions, contact tracing and self isolation are the public health measures required, said Secretary Dr. Syed Abdur Khader.

Dr. Khader requested people to avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. It also laid emphasis on social distancing.

"Social distancing is very important at this time, avoid crowds and group events, stay 6 feet away from other people. Avoid close contact within 6 feet with people who are sick," he added.

IMA also appealed to every doctor to function as a source of credible information in their locality and instill confidence and trust in people.
People not to rush to the doctor in case of minor symptoms. "Please stay in home as much as possible if you are well or have minimal symptoms to reduce your risk of infection at OPD or Hospitals from others," He added.

They also appealed to follow as Prime Minister Narendra Modi have urged citizens to follow 'Janta Curfew' from 7 AM to 9 PM on Sunday to combat the spread of coronavirus.
