Bhatkal celebrates 73rd Independence day with patriotic fervour

Bhatkal: The 73rd Independence Day celebrations were held at Taluka Stadium (YMSA Ground)  here on Thursday, August 15 with pomp, colour and patriotic fervour. 

Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Sajid Ahmed Mulla hoisted the Tricolour after receiving the guard of honour and Bhatkal MLA Sunil Naik presided over the function.

In his address, he conveyed wishes to citizens, defence servicemen and others and recalled the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. As many as 11 contingents including Karnataka Police Troup, Bharat Scouts and Guides and NCC teams from different schools, had participated in the event. 

Meritorious students were felicitated on this occasion.

Some drivers of public transport buses and autorickshaws decorated their vehicles for the occasion. While most of the shops and commercial establishments made decorations resembling the tricolour.

On this occasion Bhatkal DySP Valentine Dsouza, CPI Ganesh, and many others were present.
