Truck rams into bike on Bhatkal NH-66, rider seriously injured

Bhatkal: A 38-Year-Old rider was seriously injured after a bike in which he was moving had an head-on collision with the truck in an  road accident that happened on NH-66 near Kwality hotel, Bhatkal on Tuesday evening.

The injured has been identified as Fazlurrahman Barmawar, a resident of Kargadde in Bhatkal.

It is learnt that the incident happened when the bike was on the way to Kargadde, while the truck was heading towards Mangaluru from Honnavar side. Both had an head-on collision with each other resulting in serious injured of bike rider. Immediately after the incident, Fazlurahman was shifted to Bhatkal govt hospital for initial treatments, after which for advanced treatment he was transferred to Mangaluru hospital. Fearing the incident, the truck driver managed to flee the scene leaving the vehicle behind.

Due to the mishap, the national highway was seen blocked for nearly half-an-hour. As the information was alerted, police personnel rushed to the spot and were successful in clearing the highway after conducting necessary investigations.

A case has been registered in Bhatkal town police station.
