Seven persons killed in Davangere road mishap

Davanagere: Seven people were killed after the car they were travelling in rammed into a road divider near Kananakatte village in Jagaluru Taluk in the wee hours of Friday.

The ill-fated people were on their way to Hospet from Bengaluru when the mishap happened on the National Highway 50, about 60 km from the district headquarters.

Six people died on the spot and another one succumbed while being shifted to the hospital.

The deceased were identified as Mallana Gouda (22), Santosh (21), Sanjeev (20), Jaibhim (18) residents of Yadgir district, Raghu (23) resident of Vijayapura district and Siddesh (20) and Vedamurty (18), residents of Vijayanagar district. It is said that all were employed in Bengaluru.

According to police, all the bodies were shifted to taluk general hospital in Jagalur.

Jagalur rural police have registered a complaint and are investigating.

Davangere SP CB Ryshyant and team arrived on the spot and took part in relief works.
