36-hour lockdown to be strictly imposed in Udupi: DC G Jagadeesha

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said that the 36-hour-lockdown from Saturday (7 pm) to Monday (7 am) will be strictly implemented with zero tolerance to violations. However, essentials will be available as before.

Jagadeesha said 8,010 people are under quarantine in the district. Due to the increasing threat of the virus, the district administration is on its toes to face the challenges.

He said people in quarantine will be allowed to go home if their swab samples test negative for Covid-19.

He said only KMC has the lab facility to conduct the test. The samples received were also sent to Wenlock Hospital, Yenopoya Hospital in Mangaluru and Shivamogga laboratory.
