17 teachers get award in Udupi

Udupi: Minister for Energy and Kannada and Culture Sunil Kumar said that teachers form a crucial segment in the life of a student. They are engaged in moulding the young minds.

He was speaking after felicitating 17 teachers, who received district-level best teacher award, at St Cecily School here, on Sunday.

The minister said that teachers were contributing greatly to nation building. The noble professionals sacrifice their well-being to make future bright of their students.

The minister mentioned that National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 was meant for creating a good society and the teaching fraternity should understand its nuances. There is a need for deeper understanding of concepts promulgated through the NEP-2020, a must for teachers, he added.

The country is marching forward in celebration of 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav'. As the country celebrates 75 years of independence, it has faced numerous challenges in recent years. Aside from issues that existed prior to independence, a slew of new ones have emerged. As a result, the framework for rebuilding the nation must begin in the schools, he added.

Kumar also paid tributes to the portrait of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao lauded the efforts of the teachers and said that teachers, along with their usual responsibilities, are also able to add to their contributions during the time of pandemic by discharging the responsibilities entrusted by the government. Along with 17 teachers, 43 retired teachers were felicitated.
