Woman arrested for thrashing her daughter in Karwar

Karwar: The Karwar city police had on Wednesday arrested a woman in the City on the charges of assaulting her own daughter mercilessly.

The arrested has been identified as Renuka Gokarna, a resident of Pinge Road in the City and a vessel seller.

It is said that, Renuka, a mother of three children hit her 12-Year-Old daughter with stick on Sunday, causing her to suffer head injuries.

There is a burn mark found on the body of the victim. Renuka is also suspected to have assaulted her son, as the burn mark was also found on his leg.

The incident came to light to when a girl residing near the house of Renuka recorded the hitting scene on her cell phone and uploaded it on social media, where it later made doing rounds. 

Based on the information given by some media persons, the police, Women & Child Development Department and Child Protection Unit officers arrived to the spot and inspected. Later, Women & Child Development Department deputy director Rajendra Bekal presented Renuka and her three children in front of Children Protection Committee.

As per the order of Children Protection Committee, a case has been registered against Renuka at Women Police Station in the City. Her two daughters have been sent to the girls balmandir in Karwar and her son has been sent to the boys balmandir in Sirsi.
