Ultimately, Karwar educational district gets cycles

Karwar: Ultimately, government high school students of Karwar Educational district will get free bicycles three months after the current academic year began. The work of assembling the spare parts is going on in full swing in taluk headquarters so that they can be handed over to the students as fast as possible.

Except for the students who have availed concessional bus pass and those having hostel facility, all the other students studying in eighth standard will get these cycles.

Deputy Director of Karwar Educational District N G Naik said that the cycles have arrived late and so the fitting will be done as fast as possible for distribution.

The office of the deputy director of public instruction of Karwar educational district had submitted a proposal to the commissioner of the education department informing that the Karwar educational district needed 6,653 cycles for the year 2018-19.

Accordingly, the order for cycles of Hero Ecotech Ltd of Ludhiana in Punjab was placed. Based on the 
order which was in accordance with the number of students, the company has supplied cycles.

There are a total of 7,032 students including 3,286 boys and 3,746 girls studying in the eighth standard in Karwar educational district.

Of them, 379 students either have hostel facility or bus passes. So, 3,086 girls and 3,565 boys are eligible to get these bicycles.
