SDPI state president to contest from DK

Mangaluru: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) state president Ilyas Muhammed Thumbe will be contesting from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency.

The party announced the decision at a district convention held at Nehru Maidan on Sunday. Announcing the decision, SDPI national general secretary Abdul Majeed Mysuru said the party will also be contesting from five constituencies in the state. “SDPI wants to keep communal forces away from the corridors of power. Hence, we will field our candidates in five constituencies—Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru-Kodagu and Bidar,” he said.

SDPI district president Ataulla Jokatte presided.
