Mid-term vacation for DK schools from Oct. 14 to 21

Mangaluru: The Department of Public Instruction in Dakshina Kannada has rescheduled the mid-term vacation for primary and high schools now from October 14 to October 21. Earlier, it was scheduled from October 7 to October 21.

This has been done to adjust the teaching hours lost during holidays owing to heavy rain.

In a circular sent to schools on September 3, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Y. Shivaramaiah said that the Deputy Commissioner had declared holiday for all schools in the district for nine days owing to heavy rain.

In addition, the Block-level Education Officers in Sullia, Puttur and Bantwal taluks had declared holidays locally.

He said that, if needed, schools should conducted classes for a whole day on Saturdays and schools at the local-level should cut down local holidays to make up for the teaching hours lost.
