Mandya: Minor Girl ends life fearing punishment, parents seek justice

Mandya: A suicide case has been reported here at Navodaya Minority Residential School, where a girl student ended her life by hanging from the ceiling at the school premise on 24th January, Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Zaibunissa (14yrs) d/o Mohammed Ibrahim, a resident of Shivamogga.

According to the sources, Zaibunnisa was scolded by her teacher N S Ravi during Republic Day Parade rehearsals for poor performance and told her that strict punishment will be given if she did not perform well during the parade.

It is suspected that the girl was scared by the warning and ended her life in fear of receiving rigorous punishment by the teacher. The parents and relatives of the girl staged protest demanding that the teacher must be arrested. The members of SDPI Mysuru unit also staged a protest seeking justice and compensation to Zaibunnisa’s family.

The body was sent for post-mortem to KR Hospital as per the demand of her family members. The spot was visited by Mandya SP G Radhika.

A case has been registered and K R Pet police are investigating the case.
