Man booked for impregnating minor in Bhatkal taluk

Bhatkal: A 23-year-old man was booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by the Murudeshwar police for allegedly assaulting a minor girl sexually in Bhatkal taluk.

The accused is yet to be arrested.

According to the sources, Santosh Enka Marathi of Uttarakoppa village in Bhatkal taluk sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl of the same village. The matter came to light after the girl was found pregnant. The accused allegedly forced the girl to have physical relationship with him, assuring of marrying her. One day, he allegedly took her to a nearby forest area and sexually assaulted her. 

The accused is absconding for the last two days and the Murudeshwar police are searching for him.
