Police vehicles were seen racing towards the sight of the blaze, which was partially hidden from view by small sand dune.

A fire engine was also seen heading towards the fire at around 11:15am. The fire appeared to be coming from a construction site .

A Jumeirah Golf Estates security guard said that he had seen the fire start at around 10.40am.
